Uranus is currently sitting at the Critical Degree of 29 Aries, closing in on it's imminent passage into Taurus. The Critical Degree, or Anaretic Degree as it's also called, is a charged juncture where the energy of a planet is in its last movement out of a sign, before entering the next. It's like that psych-out moment on the edge of the pool, where nervousness and excitement are culminating to create a push pull effect, between an attachment to the familiarity of the ledge and a magnetic draw to dive into the water.

.

An Anaretic degree found in a natal chart, or progressed chart, can be a point of crisis, revealing where there is a theme of make or break in life. It can indicate a lingering on making a critical decision, and hesitancy in surrendering to the result. It is a liminal phase.

.

To have the electric and necessarily disruptive planet of Uranus resonating in The Critical Degree of Aries currently could create a certain charge in the the air, a metallic taste on the tongue as though a thunderstorm is about to release. In this case it is the last throes of a fiery and potent time, with some last sparks and sputters surely, before this unusual planet morphs into its new fixed-earth situation. There is much speculation about what the next 7 years may bring...

.

Uranus will station retrograde later this year, backing in and out of this Anaretic degree again. Whatever comes, it's sure to be surprising and even revolutionary, noticed in the collective as it relates to the Taurean themes of money and the emotional connection we have with it, our possessions, nourishment and indulgences, and our personal liberty.
