Uranus + Lunar Nodes

At 8:06 am EDT the Moon was at 0 deg 2’ Scorpio, reactivating an exact Fixed Grand Cross with Uranus and the Lunar Nodes, which are all set to shift back into the previous sign today. This sets the tone for a huge energetic shift in emotional awareness, a feeling as though something has got to give.

.

Part of the story on what will give way is the area of life up for renewal that Wednesday’s New Moon in Scorpio presents. Whichever house Scorpio is on the cusp of in your chart has already been activated by Scorpio Season, so pay attention to what is coming up from the dark corners of your psyche right now. We will discuss this in more detail tomorrow…

.

When working on integrating a message that makes some sense around the significance of Uranus square the Lunar Nodes, and the sign shift that is occuring for these, I revisited Mark Jones’ #healingthesoul I was deeply inspired by, and have borrowed heavily from this book when synthesizing the following write-up, so all of the credit to him and other Evolutionary Astrologers who have helped flesh out these psycho-spiritual ideas, born out of our Western mythic archetypes, that I will only be able to introduce in this piece. For a more complete read please acquire, and study, “Healing the Soul: Pluto, Uranus and the Lunar Nodes” and the works referenced therein...

.

Mark has shared in this book the idea, presented by Richard Tarnas in “Prometheus the Awakener”, that the mythic figure of Prometheus is akin to our modern understanding of Uranus. For those who don’t know of Prometheus, one part of his tale is that he stole fire from the Gods, to give to humanity, and for this gift that gave us our evolutionary advantage, Prometheus was tortured by being tied to a stone, his liver eaten by birds, only to regrow a new liver to be devoured again. An endless loop of punishment. Prometheus took a great risk to realize the independence of humanity, by asserting his own directive, independent of the Gods. Encoded in this is that the assertion of independence comes with great peril, and so the trauma story around our personal and collective individualism is held by Uranus, the planet that was discovered as we made our shift away from dependence on nature, to being the engineers of it with our emerging technological “fire” of invention in the modern age.

.

Uranus is the first trans-Saturnian planet, only seen by telescope, inhabiting the world beyond our known material realm and the laws and traditions that maintain its cohesion. Uranus in the natal chart, and in the transits for the collective point to the particular shade of trauma around independence that we are working through at this time. In Taurus, Uranus speaks of the perils of individuation when our cherished value systems are challenged, within or without, creating a sense of crisis when we are forced to evaluate our relationship and access to our material security and personal resources. As Uranus shifts back to Aries, we are being asked to revisit one last time, any trailing threads of the past 7 years that have come up around the theme of potentially reckless individuation, as it attempts to function in denial of material, emotional, or psychological limitation.

.

The house that Uranus in Aries has been moving through in your chart reveals the area of life that has received a Promethean advantage, catalyzing and disrupting its evolution to a god-like proportion. Though it has been an exciting, yet unnerving ride, the point to remember through it all is that ultimately Uranus is our Liberator, and the great risk that we take in our particular individuation is toward our ultimate freedom and growth. There is one last push, so that this evolutionary gift may be metabolized in our being, before Uranus goes back to Taurus on March 7 2019, never to return to Aries in our lifetime (unless we extend our lifespan with technology, but that may be another discussion for Uranus in Taurus…)

.

Today Uranus in the late degrees of Aries perfectly squares the Lunar Nodes, that have just shifted back to the Cancer/Capricorn axis. Uranus is the fulcrum of this T-square, delivering a disruptive/liberating energetic to the themes of this evolutionary axis we are now asked to hold in balance. The Lunar North Node in Cancer shows the way forward to the healing, nurturing and recovery of the lost child, the tenderness, vulnerability and protection of emerging youth and innocence. The Lunar South Node in Capricorn shows where we are coming from, in healing of societal punitive judgement, but also in taking up our responsibility of coming out of a history of patriarchal abuse of our power structures. Our particular quest for fierce individualism that denies the limitations of our natural world has played a part, so how can we carry the last 7 years forward in a sustainable direction is an important part of our puzzle, wherein a huge evolutionary leap may be made. We must take up our own liberation, however we have until March wto solve the riddle of how to make this sustainable long term...
